BRIEF INTRO:

At first this may sound strange, but there are in fact different versions -- or, rather, English 'translations' -- of the Holy Bible.   While all would (should) say the same thing, yet certain words as given in one version could differ from those of another.   An example given below will demonstrate this clearly.

Please note that, here, we are only concerned with the content of each version inasfar as their varying translations serve to demonstrate our example. We are NOT concerned with their religious authenticity or with the acceptability of any of the versions to the Church which our readers may pertain to.

You will come across the King James Version, in its archaic and modern variations.   Then there is the 'American Standard Version' as well as the 'Basic English' translation.

Below you will also find reference to the Douay-Rheims Bible, translated from the Latin Vulgate and compared to the Greek editions (given here in plain English alphabet).
