my-malta.com already had a Comino chapter and had long promised one dedicated to Gozo.

Since the year 2008, research and the accumulation of hundreds of photographs marked the start of this project, which remains ongoing a year later.   This was the reason that my-malta.com seemed not to be growing for quite some time, but a lot of work had been going on in the background, and still is.

This Chapter looks at the Island's own history, it provides summarized biographies of notable Gozitan people, brings us specimens of poetry, some of which has been translated into English.   We look at Gozo's legends and traditions, as well as photographs that depict the Island's particular Character.

There is also a larger photo gallery, sections that deal with the various villages, as well as particular beaches (not from a touristic point of view, giving much more information).

Please understand that this is a sizeable project, requiring considerable time to accomplish, so that some sections may be forthcoming still; please visit the chapter again and again, and let us have your feedback.

OmmiMaltese Music CD

my-malta review

uploaded 01-Sept-2009

This long-awaited work may be likened to a piece of fine art. ommi is a compilation of some of Malta's finest poetry, since the earliest written, exquisitely sung by Doreen Galea, to music compositions by Dominic Galea. Both well-known and respected in their musical field, these artists form part of a formidable Production Team that includes Steve Borg, whose name is synonymous with Maltese Folklore and Music (Etnika, Walter Micallef, Reuben Zahra), as well as recording engineer, Manolito Galea.

The musical styles used in this CD vary, complimenting the subject matter. Some poems are lighthearted, some are patriotic, while others are lovesongs, prayer, etc., and the musical arrangement is excitingly fitting.

"Ommi" is definitely recommended by my-malta.com!
