Between 3500 - 1500 BC

Sumerian civilization started to develop.

Egypt saw the rise of its Upper and Lower kingdoms.

Sumerian cities of Ur, Uruk and Eridu appear to have traded cloth as far as Turkey and India, developed writing, mathematics and a legal system, as well as engaging themselves in astronomy.

Two kingdoms of Egypt were united by the Pharaoh Menes.

Mass migrations were happening across the continents between Asia and Europe. Settlements in the Middle East and in Europe are said to have brought about the Semitic and the Indo-European languages.

Egypt's golden age, known as the Old Kingdom, when the pyramids were built. This period lasted till to 2150 BC.

circa 2500 BC

The Indus Valley civilization. This period marks the foundation of the fortified citadels of Harappa and
Mohenjo-Daro.

Difficult times for Egypt, known as the Middle Kingdom. This is the time of Moses and the Exodus of the Hebrew people across the desert. This period, which lasted till 1640 BC, saw the division of the 2 kingdoms and their reunion.

The Minoan civilization - the earliest in Europe- developed on the island of Crete.

Pharaoh Tuthmosis III rules Egypt (upto c. 1436 BC) when Egypt was a military power and her empire grew to its vastest extent.

Tutankamun, the Boy King, who ruled over Egypt for about 10 years.

Pharaoh Ramesses II, the warrior king, builder of the Abu Simbel ruled till he was 90 (1224 BC).

1190 BC

Greece faced hardships, owing to bad harvests and famine, possibly leading to masses taking to the sea in pursuit of survival in other lands. This was a menace to the Egyptians, who finally defeated the Sea People.

circa 1005 BC

The united Israelite tribes defeated the Philistines and set up their own kingdom in the land of Canaan, with Saul as their king and Jerusalem as their capital. The story of the Israelites is told in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible.

circa 1000 BC

Mexico - the Olmec civilization was amongst the first of its kind in the Americas. These people were temple builders.

Between 750 - 260 BC 

circa 753 BC
